Cloud Solution Architect - Cybersecurity at Microsoft

Responsibilities

• Trusted Advisor – Empower customers in their Microsoft Security adoption journey by working hands-on to envision and define secure strategies, architectures, and implementations of security controls aligned with Microsoft XDR and Microsoft Azure Security workloads while ensuring operational health.
• Security Services Acquisition and Expansion – Position and deliver solutions that drive Security product usage, with focus on Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and other Azure security solutions. Collaborate with Azure Infrastructure, Data, and Apps teams to expand security within cloud migration projects.
• Understand Customer/Partner Technical Environment – Accelerate business value through improved security posture and ensure solutions follow the “Secure by Design” framework, incorporating performance, scalability, maintainability, reusability, reliability, and embedded security.
• Architecture Design and Deployment – Lead Architectural Design Sessions to formulate implementation plans aligned with customer business goals and technical environments, reaching consensus on solution designs and defining next steps toward production.
• Practice Development – Collaborate with Cloud Solution Architects and Microsoft stakeholders including FastTrack, partner teams, and Microsoft Services to develop complex end-to-end enterprise solutions using the Microsoft Security platform.
• Thought Leadership – Drive end-to-end value and architectural plans across Microsoft Security offerings, with focus on Threat Protection, Identity & Access Management, and Cloud Security. Act as a Voice of the Customer by sharing insights and best practices, collaborating with global Microsoft Security, Engineering, and Product teams to remove blockers and influence the product roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Cybersecurity, or a related field AND 5+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, cybersecurity, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, or consulting — or equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, or consulting — or equivalent experience.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 6+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, or consulting — or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience working in a customer-facing role (internal and/or external).
• 4+ years of experience working on technical projects.
• Technical certification in Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google) and/or relevant security certifications.

Technical

• Technical aptitude and experience to learn new cloud security technologies and stay current with relevant market trends.
• Competitive Landscape: Knowledge of cloud security platforms and competitors with breadth of technical security experience and subject matter expertise in two or more of the following:
  • Microsoft Sentinel – Hands-on experience deploying Microsoft Sentinel in complex customer environments required.
  • Defender for Cloud – Hands-on experience deploying Microsoft Defender for Cloud required.
  • Threat Protection – Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Endpoint, Identity, and O365, supported with certifications.
  • Data Security (Purview) – Experience preferred.
  • Identity and Access Management – Experience with Microsoft Entra.
• Certification in one or more of the following is preferred:
  • Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert
  • Microsoft 365 Security Administrator
  • Microsoft SOC Analyst Associate
