About the Job

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and direct supervision of the National Programme Support Officer, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the National Project Support Officer will be responsible and accountable for supporting the coordination and facilitation of project development, donor and institutional reporting of IOM Programme and project activities to donors, government, UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders in line with IOM’s regional and country strategies.

Your Job Description

  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of the operational, programmatic, administrative, and financial aspects of projects in accordance with IOM policies, practices, and donor requirements.
  • Keep the supervisor informed on the status of project implementation, identify gaps and opportunities, and suggest actions to improve implementation.
  • Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, programmatic analysis and situational picture exercises, project budgets, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate the collection, verification, and analysis of data and background information, and update information management systems and social media platforms on project-related activities, including awareness and visibility materials, summaries, press releases, and other relevant content.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and dissemination of project reports in accordance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, United Nations agencies, local authorities, and government counterparts.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, organization, and delivery of capacity-building activities in programme development, donor and institutional reporting, targeting IOM staff, government and civil society partners, implementing partners, and communities.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, inter-agency coordination meetings, and other forums.
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals and a wide range of communication and resource mobilization products, concept notes, and other planning documents, in close coordination with the Chief of Mission (CoM), Project Managers, UNCT, relevant donors, government counterparts, and project partners, by providing technical support.
  • Supervise project staff and provide training and technical guidance as required.
  • Undertake duty travel related to project implementation, monitoring visits, project assessments, and liaison with counterparts, as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

The Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government and non-government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of migration-related subject areas handled by the organization.
  • Knowledge of United Nations and bilateral donor programming.
  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
  • Good communication, writing, and organizational skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure with a high sense of confidentiality, initiative, and sound judgment.
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, and creative thinking.
  • Good computer literacy, including database applications.
