If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Grants Officer to join our team in Abuja, Federal Capital.  The Grants Officer will provide essential grant management support to Grants Coordinator and Manager in delivering quality programs in line with the NRC Country Office strategy and Plan of Action.

Your Job Description

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists in the process of compiling reports (donors and internal reports) in close collaboration with the Grants Coordinator and Manager, Core Competency Specialists, Programme and M&E teams, and Finance to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely delivery of narrative and financial documents for allocated projects.
  • Works with the Grants Manager/Coordinator to develop concept notes and donor proposals and participates in writing them in close cooperation with relevant departments in NRC Nigeria.
  • Supports the development of generic concept notes, briefing notes, and Situation Reports (SITREPs) to be used in donor meetings and visits.
  • Supports the development and implementation of grants-related trainings, including proposal and report writing.
  • Supports the maintenance of an accessible and well-organized filing system for storing all grant-specific files for all of NRC’s past and active grants.
  • Supports the Grants Intern to ensure correct and up-to-date maintenance of the Grants Tracker/Filing Tree.
  • Supports ensuring that all required documentation is ready and available for audits.

The Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree or higher education, preferably in international relations/development, development studies, social sciences, or project management
  • Between 1–2 years of relevant experience within field of expertise
  • Relevant experience with grants management in the humanitarian sector
  • Experience working with humanitarian and development donors
  • Basic understanding of donor rules and regulations
  • Skills and experience in report and proposal writing
  • Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Above-average computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
