Our client is an operational non profit organization with a mission to strengthen child protection and prevent child sexual abuse. They currently have an opening for a Communications Manager with a strong track record in non-profit communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, ideally within the child protection, human rights or social impact sectors.
Purpose-led and child-focused – genuinely committed to child protection, prevention of child sexual abuse, survivor support, and systemic change. Must understand the sensitivity and confidentiality required in working with children and survivors.
A strategic storyteller – able to translate legal, psychosocial, and program work into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences: survivors, parents, schools, government, donors, corporates, media, and the general public. Able to decipher the correct channels and stakeholders for each initiative.
Digitally fluent – confident in managing websites, social media channels, email newsletters, and basic digital campaigns, with a good understanding of analytics, reach, and engagement.
Media-savvy – experienced working with journalists and media houses, comfortable drafting press releases, op-eds, speeches, and preparing spokespeople for interviews.
Organized and execution-focused – able to plan and deliver communications calendars, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and support events and campaigns under tight timelines.
A strong writer and editor – able to produce professional, error-free content (reports, speeches, presentations, social copy, campaign messaging) with consistent tone and branding.
Collaborative – works well with program teams, legal and counseling teams, fundraisers, management, and external partners, with a respectful, low-ego style.
Discreet and ethical – understands safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection in relation to children and survivors, and adheres strictly to Cece Yara’s safeguarding and ethical communication guidelines.
5–8+ years’ relevant experience in communications, PR, media, or marketing, preferably with at least 2–3 years in non-profit/NGO, development, or advocacy.
Demonstrated experience managing social media for organizations, developing campaigns, and working on brand visibility for a mission-driven entity.
Experience supporting fundraising communications (donor reports, concept notes, impact stories, pitch decks) is a strong advantage.
Experience in child rights, gender-based violence, or human rights is a strong plus, even if not as a core role.
