About the Job
The Human Resources Officer implements and leads the activities of Project Human Resources Management (HRM), providing a full spectrum of HR services at project level linked to organizational needs and objectives. The HR officer serves as a resource person with respect to MSH/GF regulations. Under the direct supervision of the Project Director, the HR officer works closely with the Nigeria HR Partner, Global HR Partner, and the Project Leadership Team to support the achievement of organizational and country mission, goals, and objectives through the development, implementation, and management of HR activities. The HR officer adheres to MSH’s Procurement Integrity (PI) standards in all HR activities and is responsible for raising the awareness of staff regarding PI regulations.
Your Job Description
Oversee the recruitment process for project staff
Ensure all MSH and donor recruitment policies and procedures are adhered to and recommend improvements
In collaboration with PD, DFA, and Country HRM, review and prepare recruitment materials including job descriptions, job specifications, adverts, and interview questions
Carry out shortlisting, coordinate, and participate in interviews
Conduct and manage biodata forms, anti-terrorist checks, and reference checks
Maintain an active and organized databank of applicants for various positions
Plan and coordinate new employee orientation, including provision of information on policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, benefits, and promotion opportunities
Manage salary and employee benefits administration
Contribute to and ensure that the MSH Nigeria benefits package is evaluated and revised as necessary, and communicate changes to project staff
Manage payroll administration through the provision of relevant human resources information
Conduct salary negotiations for new and existing staff and review offers to ensure equity across projects
Ensure all promotions are properly justified both technically and in terms of compensation
Work with supervisors and managers to set probation objectives, manage timelines, and confirm employment decisions
Manage the full performance review cycle at project level and ensure deadlines are met
Conduct training related to the performance review process
Assist supervisors and managers in managing staff performance issues
Manage disputes and grievances effectively
Plan and conduct PPRD and supervisors’ training sessions
Assist supervisors and managers with performance development plans
Manage accurate and timely submissions in the Workday system
Maintain personnel records and compile statistical HR reports
Assist in analyzing HR data to support informed decision-making
Support mechanisms for sharing ideas, including HR databases, open discussions, and employee–management meetings
Provide HR information reports to the home office for budgeting and data validation
Coordinate timely and accurate submission of timesheets
Assist DFA or Lead in conducting regular risk assessments and monitoring risk mitigation activities
Support initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and positive workplace, including open-door policy, One MSH policy, training, and safeguards
Highlight HR issues during monthly Nigeria HR meetings and monitor implementation progress
Ensure compliance with global HR systems and guidelines
Coordinate staff exit processes, including conducting exit interviews
