Your Job Description
PURPOSE
Perform phlebotomy on adults and children.
Provide assistance in various functions of the laboratory.
Maintain and update laboratory checklists regularly.
Operate and manage automatic hematology and chemistry analyzers, pipettes, thermometers, balances, and other laboratory apparatus.
Label, sort, and record specimens and organize all information into the computer system.
Demonstrate proficiency in performing laboratory inventory.
Document patient and family education.
Use a Lab Information Management System for specimen tracking, results entry, and reporting.
Lead and encourage a multidisciplinary approach for patient discharge.
Develop and provide teaching plans utilizing the patient education manual.
Enhance laboratory services and laboratory reputation.
ENGAGEMENT
Identify and communicate abnormal results by alerting supervisory personnel, the patient, physician, or nurse.
Communicate with patients and family members in a professional, compassionate, and respectful manner to facilitate healthcare delivery as a team member.
DELIVERY
Process and enhance laboratory services and laboratory reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Operate sophisticated equipment and instruments to perform diagnostic tests and assays following standard operating procedures.
Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following established standards and procedures.
Process and maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting, calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures, and monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
The Job Requirements
Targeted Specialized Knowledge
Minimum qualification of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from an accredited School of Health Technology, with up-to-date complete registration and practicing license.
Certification from the Association of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSCN).
At least 1–4 years of experience in a medical laboratory, hospital, or clinic. Relevant medical laboratory certification will be an added advantage.
Remuneration:
NGN 158,000 monthly gross.
