The Sonographer is responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, patient care, and collaboration with medical professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal patient outcomes.
Main Duties
Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of organs, tissues, and blood flow.
Adjust equipment settings and patient positioning to optimize image quality.
Analyze images for quality and preliminary findings, reporting to radiologists or physicians.
Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and image archiving according to institutional and legal requirements.
Assist physicians during interventional ultrasound procedures as required.
Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of ultrasound equipment.
Comply with infection control, radiation safety, and professional ethical standards.
Participate in continuous professional development and training programs.
Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients throughout the procedure.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years clinical experience in diagnostic sonography or related field.
Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
Professional certification/licensure (e.g., ARDMS, NIMLS or local equivalent).
Ability to stand for long periods and assist patients physically.
In-depth knowledge of ultrasound physics and anatomy.
Proficiency in operating ultrasound machines and interpreting images.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.
Compassionate attitude towards patients.
Willingness to work shifts and on-call hours as required.
