Job Description

Job Responsibilities - Key Result Areas

  • Leading and Managing NOC Teams: Directing and mentoring NOC engineers, ensuring efficient team operations and performance.
  • Network Monitoring and Surveillance: Proactively monitoring network elements, identifying and resolving issues, and escalating problems as needed.
  • Incident Management: Coordinating incident response, ensuring timely resolution of network issues, and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Diagnosing and resolving complex network and system issues, often escalated from lower-level engineers.
  • Network Maintenance and Upgrades: Performing network maintenance tasks, implementing upgrades, and managing network configurations.
  • Network Security: Implementing and enforcing network security measures to protect the network from threats.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Creating and maintaining network documentation, developing reports on NOC performance, and analyzing incident trends.
  • Collaboration: Working with other teams (engineering, support) to ensure efficient network operations and incident resolution.
  • Vendor Management: Managing relationships with vendors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Training and Development: Conducting training for NOC personnel to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Requirements

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing protocols), network hardware (routers, switches), and operating systems (Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS).
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues using various troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Ability to lead and mentor a team of NOC engineers.
  • Incident Management: Experience in incident management processes, including escalation and communication.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ability to create and maintain network documentation and generate reports on NOC performance.
  • Scripting (desirable): Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for automation and network management tasks.
  • Security: Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage and contribute to network-related projects.
