What Role You Will Play in Our Team
The role of an Operations Technician is to provide the functional, day-to-day support and surveillance of unit operating equipment.
The Operations Technician must master an effective working knowledge of safe work practices, essential preventative and mitigative safeguards
applicable to their assigned unit, potential process hazards and their effective barriers, emergency response procedures,
and key operating envelopes for their equipment.
Operations Technicians will often be required to safely isolate parts of the unit, prepare equipment for mechanical work,
manage potential energy, chemical, and environmental risks associated with these temporary configurations,
and then safely return equipment to service in a coordinated fashion to minimize process upsets or other risks.

What You Will Do
- Develop thorough working knowledge of primary unit operations, safe operating limits, and control schemes.
- Develop thorough working knowledge of unit process/environmental potential hazards and safeguards that prevent/mitigate risks.
- Comply with safe work standards (Lock-Out / Tag-Out), Management of Change, and Procedure compliance.
- Conduct assigned surveillance/sampling rounds with an Operations Excellence / Process & Personnel Safety mindset.
- Develop and/or execute Process Plans to prepare equipment for maintenance or returning to service.
- Handle both Field and/or Console operations responsibility to manage/improve unit operations.
- Understand and execute Emergency Response expectations across various practical scenarios.
- Monitor equipment, identify unusual operations, support optimization, and troubleshooting activities.
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Higher National Diploma in Process and/or Instrumentation, City and Guilds Level 4 in Process or Instrumentation.
- Equivalent qualifications in an oil and gas industry-specific apprenticeship program.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant oil and gas operator technician work experience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Ability to adapt, creativity, and innovation.
- Good understanding and identification of workplace hazards.
- Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and courage of conviction.
- Technical Knowledge & Equipment Operation:
- Experience operating and maintaining production equipment (pumps, compressors, separators, etc.).
- Previous FPSO experience preferred.

Good knowledge of Instrumentation / Mechanical and Hands-On Skills:
- Basic understanding and ability to perform minor repairs, routine maintenance, and adjustments on equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret transmitters, sensors, gauges, and control valves.
- Familiarity with ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G) systems, and their role in process safety.
- Familiarity with Distributed Control System (DCS) and ability to monitor and control process parameters remotely.
- Good understanding and interpretation of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Attention to detail: Ability to observe equipment performance, detect abnormalities, and take appropriate action.
- Maintain accurate production logs and reports.
- Ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Understanding of what constitutes a hazard and control/mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of basic Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and critical device bypass.

Hydrocarbon Processing & Tank Operations:
- Knowledge of crude oil processing, stabilization, and storage in FPSO cargo tanks.
- Experience in tank inert gas systems and offloading procedures.
- Knowledge of oil and gas separation, dehydration, gas compression, water treatment, and export systems.
