Lagos General Services Manager at First Bank of Nigeria

Job Description

  • Facility management: Ensuring that services such as general fixed asset maintenance, adaptation and face-lifting of existing branches, allocation of offices to staff members are executed professionally in their respective regions in Nigeria.
  • Project management: Managing all ongoing construction projects including new branches, adaptation and relocation of branches, face-lifting of branches/other bank properties (e.g., Private Banking and Archive buildings) across all locations in Nigeria.
  • Construction oversight: Overseeing projects from site handover, progress meetings, and regular inspections to ensure alignment with the bank’s standards and deliverables.
  • Ensuring high-quality documentation for projects, branch equipment, and building maintenance.
  • Mega/CSR project monitoring: Supervising bank-financed projects to ensure quality control/assurance, stakeholder coordination, and timely delivery while preventing fund mismanagement.
  • Branch premises inspection: Identifying defects in buildings and initiating approvals for quick remedial action to preserve brand standards.
  • Branch equipment inspection: Monitoring installation, operation, and maintenance of generators monthly or as needed; verifying quarterly the integrity of electrical protection systems in branches and bank buildings.
  • Managing periodic, proactive maintenance of operational equipment (e.g., ACs, fire systems, inverters, photocopiers, CCTV, security doors, generators) to prevent downtime affecting bank operations.
  • Contractor engagement: Vetting and negotiating tenders in line with bank/market rates, collaborating with branch staff for necessary approvals.
  • Conducting physical job valuations and preparing valuation certificates, claims, final accounts, and practical completion certificates after proper diligence and compliance with bank standards.
  • Resolving branch operational issues promptly, coordinating with stakeholders, and escalating to management when SLAs are breached.
  • Providing protocol services to visiting staff and executives when required.
  • Inspecting and certifying landed properties, assisting in negotiations, and making recommendations for management approval.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
First degree in Architecture, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Estate Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
Professional certifications are an added advantage.
Minimum Experience
8 to 12 years of relevant experience.
