Nestlé Nigeria is currently looking for a suitable candidate for the Engineering Supervisor role, who will be responsible for the supervision of the engineering technicians assigned to facilities maintenance, to ensure that proper engineering support is provided on day-to-day engineering operation of the factory. He shall exercise supervision according to Nestlé policies, guidelines, rules and regulations.
A Day in a Life of an Engineering Supervisor
- Ensure absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and evaluate all changes for product safety, people safety, and environmental impact.
- Apply Good Engineering Practices at all times.
- Implement repairs/modifications from gap assessments, plant audits and notifications.
- Provide on-the-line coaching to technicians in machinery and hygiene engineering practices.
- Promote teamwork across departments and review critical processes for safety and compliance.
- Plan and execute routine maintenance with first-time quality.
- Promote continuous improvement within the M&I culture.
- Implement consequence driven maintenance and manage asset lifecycle performance.
- Create and manage maintenance schedules (yearly, monthly, weekly).
- Monitor equipment to reduce downtime during shift operations.
- Use predictive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and OEM support efficiently.
- Improve line change and cleaning processes to reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with production and quality to resolve operational issues.
- Plan shutdown/start-up activities with production to mitigate risks.
- Supervise Beverages/Confectioneries maintenance tasks and ensure quality execution.
- Implement Continuous Improvement (CI) using LEAN methodologies.
- Coordinate Electrical equipment checklists.
- Support Beverages/Confectioneries projects across sections.
- Ensure effective spare part management.
What Will Make You Successful?
To be successful in this position you must have a:
- B.Sc., HND in Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation/Automation Engineering.
- 3–5 years post-qualification work experience in a supervisory role, including 2–3 years in Automation support & electrical maintenance.
- Minimum 2–3 years automation experience with SIEMENS and ALLEN BRADLEY PLCs.
- Team-oriented, result-driven, adaptable, and helpful attitude.
- Strong communicator, agile, and able to handle pressure.
- Ability to work in complex and dynamic operational settings.
