Job Description

The role of Custody Sales & Relationship Officer remains accountable and responsible for working with the Head of Custody Services to ensure the timely execution of all strategic plans as they pertain to Custody, whilst ensuring that budget requirements are met.

The jobholder is responsible for working with the rest of the team in instilling a culture of service and operational excellence while simultaneously ensuring improved product capabilities with ongoing process efficiency and adherence to all operational practices and governance processes.

Strategy and Financial Management

  • Work with the head of business and various teams across the bank in driving strategic plans and implementation with appropriate prioritization.
  • Originate new sales opportunities and manage the sales pipeline to achieve growth in AUC and custody liabilities.
  • Follow through on onboarding new clients and timely account openings in line with service level agreements.
  • Plan and execute client calls to drive new business and manage existing relationships.
  • Proactively address client needs and issues.
  • Recommend improvements to systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Complete RFPs, RFIs, and questionnaires accurately.
  • Provide dashboard reporting to executive management at month-end.
  • Manage the full custody product suite: direct custody, international custody, broker clearing, funds services, fiduciary services.
  • Analyze industry trends and competitor offerings to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Engage with clients regarding market changes and product solutions.
  • Participate in market advocacy and industry forums.
  • Maintain strong internal relationships across business units.
  • Report meaningfully to executive leadership about current custody developments.
  • Promote a high-performance culture aligned with strategic goals.
  • Give proactive feedback from industry forums to clients and stakeholders.
  • Focus on cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Handle all regulatory and compliance requests efficiently.

Business

  • Monitor market developments and competitor activity, and assess client impact.
  • Cover the full spectrum of custody operations including broker clearing and fiduciary services.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Finance for product evolution.

Teamwork

  • Promote team camaraderie within Custody and across the organization.
  • Maintain open communication lines and ensure cross-team alignment.
  • Contribute to team scorecards and strategic execution.

Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Com Degree (or equivalent).
  • 3–5 years of post-graduation experience.
  • Beneficial experience in banking regulations, financial accounting, taxation, settlement systems, credit risk, sales, and treasury products.
  • Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite.
